11:09 pm - My Vaio Mishap

As I sit here writing this entry on my Sony Vaio VGNT-350P, I am faced with the daunting task of backing up all my data on to another device.  Today, I will be sending my Vaio to San Francisco for repair of the soundcard.  Through the testing of JAWS, Window-Eyes and MP3 files, I have determined that the problem is hardware related.  Hopefully, the computer will not be damaged in transit.
Yesterday, I received a box that had been torn down and held together with plastic straps.  I was rather perplexed, because in past experiences, I received a box with fome padding and all I had to do was place the computer inside, tape the box and ship the unit.  Imagine my astonishment when I received the box and found out that I had to assemble not one but two boxes.  The inner box is being assembled by a sighted person, because quite frankly I could not figure out how the bloody box held together or what fold went where.  The outer box was much easier to assemble because of the standard size and shape.
In a few hours, I will ship my Vaio, and in the meantime, I will have my Compaq so I can still keep in touch with the internet and e-mail.
I will update the blog when I have more information regarding the laptop.

Overall, how do you like your Sony VAIO? I am considering getting the newer version of the one you've got. How has tech support been? Do you know if they have same or next-day repair service? I am needing it for law school and my university says we need to buy machines with warranties that will provide for same-day or next-day repairs (we will not have the time to send them offf for repairs). Does the VAIO work well with Jaws (I'm assumign you use Jaws, but correct me if I'm wrong)
Any info is appreciated.

I'm not sure if they have 2-day service or not. I sent my laptop in and within about 4 days, because of the weekend, I got it back. I don't know much about their tech support, because I only called them once. I'm assuming they're outsourcing, but I'm not too sure.
I love my Vaio very much!

LOL So I failed to read your etnry all the way through. I saw Sony VAIO VGN and quit reading. So never mind my questions about whether you use Jaws. How have you found the laptop overall?

I have found the Vaio very capable in dealing with the tasks that I perform. While it is small and lightweight, it is just amazing. The keyboard has smaller keys, so this takes some getting used too. I actually went into the store and looked and typed on the Vaio to get a feel for what the laptop was like. Because it's small, I don't think it's a ruggid kind of laptop, but I still love it.
